What happens when you combine Kim Possible's twin brothers, Foxygen and eyeliner? You get Shaun Fleming, the fantastically flamboyant frontman and songwriter of Diane Coffee.
On multiple occasions, I've met people who upon hearing Diane Coffee for the first time, thought the band had multiple singers in it. The truth is, Fleming's background is in acting and voice acting. He has this stunningly unique talent for combining this skillset with his vocal stylings. It's like he's physically and audibly embodying every emotion he writes into his songs.
"Everyday" is the kind of song that I want to hear every morning before I get out of bed. It's musical sunshine. It's a declaration of not taking crap anymore. It's a tossed salad of Bowie, 1960s psychedelic folk rock, with a drizzle of Rocky Horror Picture Show on top. I eagerly await Diane Coffee's next record.
